Illinois Nationals Results
Multiple Illinois archery teams competed recently at the NASP Eastern National Bullseye Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, May 9 to 11, 2024. Teams competing were: Armstrong-Potomac Schools, St. John’s Lutheran (Mattoon), Georgetown-Ridgefarm Schools, East Dubuque Schools, Next Generation School, Adlai Stevenson High School, Canton Schools, Cuba High School, Franklin Middle School, Jefferson Middle School, Champaign Central High School and Champaign Centennial High School.
Champaign Central High School made the awards podium in the bullseye format by placing third in the nation as a team with an outstanding score of 3434 out of 252 high school teams competing. The Champaign Centennial High School team also placed in the top 10 percent, placing 24th. In the middle school division (bullseye) top teams were Franklin Middle School placed 34th out of 267 middle school teams competing and Jefferson Middle School placed 42nd. Additionally, Armstrong-Potomac middle school team placed 57th, St. Johns Lutheran’s team placed 81st, Canton Ingersoll placed 184th and Next Generation placed 192nd. Elementary school teams competing were Next Generation was 62 out of 199 teams, East Dubuque Elementary was 94th, and Georgetown-Ridgefarm Elementary team was 167th.
Sophomore archer at Champaign Centennial High School, Diana Diamani placed 4th in the nation out of 2496 high school girls as an individual in the bullseye format with an outstanding 295 out of 300 points. She was awarded a $1000 scholarship as a national medalist and has the opportunity to win up to $5000 in a shoot-out at the National Championship in June. Also of note, Champaign Central senior, Olivia Terry, placed 8th in the nation with a score of 293.
Several Illinois teams also competed in the 3D animal format during the event including Champaign Centennial H.S. who placed 7th in the nation as a team out of 157 competing high schools with a score of 1706. Also competing in the 3D animal format were Cuba High School as well as Armstrong-Potomac Schools who fielded an elementary, middle school and high school team. Notable individual rankings were Centennial senior Miles Remenji placing 18th out of 1225 high school boys (score of 291) and Centennial sophomore Diana Diamani placing 9th out of 1177 high school girls (score of 291).
The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), based on the results of the 2024 Western and Eastern NASP® National Tournaments and using rosters of all registered Academic Archers, NASP® announces its Academic All-American Teams in Elementary, Middle School, and High School Divisions. Champaign Centennial sophomore archer, Diana Diamani and Champaign Central senior archer, Olivia Terry have been named to the 2024 Academic All-American Team. These student archers not only excelled on the range, but also were recognized by their school for proficiency in the classroom. NASP® and the Academic Archer Title Sponsor – Easton Technical Products are proud to recognize these top student archers as they provide an excellent scholastic example for all NASP® participants in 49 states and 9 Canadian Provinces and the British Virgin Islands.
